Founded in 1989 by Joaquim Pereira da Silva, Viniagra is a family wine company that explores a range of wine farms on the right bank of the Douro Valley, in São Lourenço do Douro that belong to the Municipality of Marco de Canaveses, where the family has its origins. The current area of cultivation is spread over more than 20 ha of vineyards on sunny and precipitous lands. Despite being a new company, the family of Joaquim Pereira da Silva has a long history in cultivation of vines, and traditionally provided grapes to the largest wine producers in the region.

In 2004, after an investment in the restructure of the vineyards and the building of the winery, the company embraced the project of producing the wine label "Solar de Pinheiro– Paço de São Lourenço”. Through this project, Viniagra aims to be present in niche markets, either national and international,, focusing on partnerships with distributors who share the same philosophy of selective marketing.

The current capacity of the winery is 180,000 litres of wine per year, although the production for bottling is lower, which is currently an average of 40,000 litres per year.

In addition to grape production in the sub region of Amarante, Viniagra also explores some 19 ha of vineyards in the sub-region Cávado (zone of Amares).
